Mmmmm.... Apples!
Get ready... for Fernie's first ever apple celebration. Saturday, September 19th will find a fun filled event celebrating our locally grown apples to add to the excitement at the Taste of Fernie. This will include apple juggling, Best Apple in Fernie award, an Apple Bake Off, a juicing demonstration and so much more.
Think you have the best apple recipe? Prove it at the Apple Bake Off. Local apples must be used in all recipes. Don't have a tree and want to enter? No problem – access local apples through the Apple Share at www.ecogarden.ca/shared. Fun prizes to be won!
Is there no doubt in your mind that the apple tree in your backyard is definitely the best? Put it to the test in the Best Apple in Fernie contest. Participants must bring a minimum of five apples per tree to enter.
Fernie grows great apples – it's undeniable. In fact, some residents have so many apples this time of year they go unused and can entice bears into our community. The EcoGarden's Apple Share is an online solution that allows users to share the apples that they do not need, by connecting them with those who do not have an apple tree in their yard.
